This New Phone's Battery is So Big, It Makes Flagships Look Anemic (1)

We see a lot of phones come across our desks, and frankly, it takes something special to make us do a double-take. Well, Honor just made us spit out our coffee. Their new phone, the Honor X70, just launched in China, and it’s packing a feature that is so ridiculously over-the-top (in the best way possible) that it’s hard to ignore: an 8,300mAh battery.

No, that’s not a typo. Eight. Thousand. Three. Hundred.

Honor X70 Specifications at a Glance

In a world where most flagship phones hover between 4,500mAh and 5,000mAh, the Honor X70 waltzes in with a battery that’s nearly double the size. This isn’t just a “get you through the day” phone; this is a “get you through the weekend” phone. Honor is claiming it has a six-year durability rating, which means this battery is built to last, not just in terms of daily usage but for years to come.

But here’s the kicker – it’s not some chunky, rugged brick that you’d expect. The phone is surprisingly slim, measuring under 8mm thick. It seems Honor has pulled off some engineering magic with a new silicon-carbon battery technology to make this possible.

So, what’s the catch? Is it all battery and nothing else? Not quite. While the rest of the specs aren’t going to dethrone the latest high-end flagships, they are incredibly solid for what’s expected to be a very reasonably priced device. You’re getting a massive, super-bright 120Hz AMOLED screen, a capable new Snapdragon processor, and even some insane durability ratings (IP69K, meaning it can withstand high-pressure, high-temperature water jets).

The camera system seems to be the main trade-off, with a single 50MP sensor on the back. It’s a simple approach, likely focusing on delivering one good camera rather than multiple mediocre ones, which is a philosophy we can get behind at this price point.

For now, the Honor X70 is a China-exclusive, but we’re crossing our fingers for a global release. This is the kind of phone that could seriously shake up the mid-range market. It’s a bold statement from Honor that focuses on a feature everyone cares about: not having to constantly hunt for a charger.
