Akshay Kumar to Star in Housefull 5

Akshay Kumar has announced that he will be starring in the fifth installment of the popular comedy film series Housefull. The film is slated to release in theaters on Diwali 2024.

Kumar took to social media to share the news with his fans. He posted a poster of the film, which features the tagline “India’s biggest comedy franchise is back.” The poster also reveals that the film will be directed by Tarun Mansukhani, who helmed the third and fourth installments of the series.

While other details about the film, including the rest of the cast, have not been revealed, Kumar did confirm that Riteish Deshmukh will also be starring in the film. Deshmukh has been a part of all four previous installments of the Housefull franchise.

The Housefull series is known for its slapstick humor and ensemble casts. The first installment of the series, which was released in 2010, featured an ensemble cast that included Deepika Padukone, Lara Dutta, Boman Irani, Arjun Rampal, and the late Jiah Khan. The second installment, which was released in 2012, featured an ensemble cast that included Abhishek Bachchan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Lisa Haydon, Nargis Fakhri, Asin, and the late Rishi Kapoor. The third installment, which was released in 2016, featured an ensemble cast that included Nana Patekar, Salman Khan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nargis Fakhri, and Zareen Khan. The fourth installment, which was released in 2019, featured an ensemble cast that included Bobby Deol, Kriti Sanon, Kriti Kharbanda, and Pooja Hegde.

The Housefull series has been a commercial success, with all four installments grossing over ₹100 crore (US$13 million) at the box office. The fifth installment is expected to be another box office hit for Akshay Kumar and the Housefull franchise.
